HBO drops official trailer for 'Game of Thrones' prequel 'House of the Dragon'
A new game of thrones is brewing as the "House of the Dragon" nears release!
In the official teaser trailer dropped on Thursday, the "Game of Thrones" prequel introduces the main players for the Iron Throne 200 years before the original series.
King Viserys, Princess Rhaenyra, Prince Daemon, Corlys Velaryon, and Otto Hightower, the Hand of King, were among the characters who appeared in the trailer.
"Men would sooner put the realm to the torch than see a woman ascend the iron throne," Rhaenys Velaryon told a young Rhaenyra.
"House of the Dragon," based on George R.R. Martin's "Fire & Blood" novel, tells the story of House Targaryen and the civil war that became known as the "Dance of the Dragons."
It stars Matt Smith as Daemon, Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Paddy Considine as Viserys.
The series, which wrapped up production in February, will premiere on August 21.
