Christopher Walken cast as the emperor in 'Dune'


Christopher Walken is joining the already star-studded cast of "Dune!"

According to a report on The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will play the role of Emperor Shaddam IV in "Dune: Part Two."

In the "Dune" lore, Shaddam is the ruler of the universe who initially sent the House of Atreides to the desert planet of Arrakis.

Walken has appeared in many iconic films such as "Pulp Fiction," "Seven Psychopaths," and "Catch Me If You Can."

Florence Pugh and Austin Butler are also joining the cast, the report added. Pugh will play the emperor's daughter Princess Irulan, while Butler will play the Baron of Harkonnen's nephew, Feyd-Rautha.

The first "Dune" film stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Rebecca Ferguson.

“Dune” was adapted from Frank Herbert’s legendary 1965 novel of the same name. It follows the Atreides family as they move to Arrakis as the planet's new rulers.

The sequel is slated for release on October 2023. —JCB, GMA News
