"Death Note" is a popular Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2003 to 2006.
The story follows Light Yagami, a high school student who finds a mysterious notebook that kills anyone as long as the user knows the name and face of the target. As he uses the notebook to kill high-profile criminals, he earns the alias "Kira" and attracts the attention of detectives.
"Death Note" was adapted into an anime series and light novel in 2006, a video game in 2007, and several Japanese live action films.
Netflix also created a live action film in 2017. Directed by Adam Wingard, it stars Nat Wolff, Lakeith Stanfield, and Margaret Qualley.
