Netflix unveils emotional trailer for Guillermo del Toro's 'Pinocchio'
It's safe to assume we'll need tissues for Guillermo del Toro's take on "Pinocchio."
Netflix finally released the first trailer of the stop-motion musical, showing gorgeous animation and an onslaught of feels.
In the trailer, woodcarver Geppetto could be seen mourning the passing of his son, before cutting down a tree and creating the puppet he named Pinocchio.
The following clips hint on the adventure of a lifetime, and lots of sweet moments between Pinocchio and Geppetto.
"The wooden boy with the borrowed soul," said the voice over, presumably the fairy who brings the puppet to life. "Be his son. Fill his days with light. We shall call you Pinocchio."
Based on an 1883 novel by Carlo Collodi, "Pinocchio" was animated by Disney in 1940.
The new film, directed by del Toro ("Crimson Peak," "The Shape of Water") and Mark Gustafson, features an all-star cast: Ewan McGregor as Cricket, David Bradley as Geppetto, Gregory Mann as Pinocchio, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman with Christoph Waltz and Tilda Swinton.
It is set to premiere on Netflix on December. —JCB, GMA News
