San Juan City lights up 30-feet tall Christmas tree at Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine

San Juan City lit up a 30-feet tall Christmas tree at the Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine on Friday.

According to Cedric Castillo's report on "24 Oras," over 30 people worked together to assemble the giant tree. The tree boasts of 30,000 lights.

Mayor Francis Zamora said the local government held a similar program last year, but people were still hesitant to go out back then.

"Ngayon mas buo na ang loob ng tao na lumabas at 'yung mga ganitong activities ang nagiging paraan upang maranasan nila ano nga ba ang pakiramdam ng Pasko na nagkakaroon ng mga bazaar, nagsho-shopping," he said.

("Now people have more courage to go out and these kinds of activities give them the opportunity to experience how it feels to have a Christmas with bazaars and shopping.")

Other holiday attractions have been lit up the past few days, such as the "Bridge of Lights" connecting Pasig City and Quezon City and Valenzuela City's giant Christmas tree.
