Instituto Cervantes de Manila to hold discounted book market for International Book Day
Good news for book lovers! Instituto Cervantes de Manila will hold a book market and more exciting activities to celebrate International Book Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
They will offer a book market where books from Manila's bookstores and publishers will be sold at discounted prices at the event.
Dubbed "DíA del LIBRO," the event will also feature various activities. For one, poetry lovers may want to be a part of the second Hispano-Filipino Poetry Recital. As a bonus for conquering any stage fright, participants will also receive roses a la the Spanish tradition.
Ever wanted to learn Spanish? They will also offer a 30-minute Spanish class at 2 p.m. at Aula 1 at the venue in Intramuros.
For the history buffs, Dr. Lorelei de Viana, an art historian, will have a signing for her book, "Walk Manila." The guidebook identifies 100 historic sites and structures, including the ones deemed as "heritage-at-risk" in the different districts like Intramuros, Ermita, Binondo, and more.
Aside from that, visitors can look forward to the Talahib People's Music concert, games, activities for kids, and more.
In addition, they will bring back their traditional "Escribo el Quijote," where volunteers "hand copy" the first handwritten reproduction of the great novel in the Philippines, "Don Quixote de la Mancha."
At the event, if you get hungry after all that, Spanish food will also be served.
The Intramuros branch of Instituto Cervantes de Manila is located at Calle Real Plaza, San Luis Complex at Intramuros in Manila.
