'Drag Race PH': Captivating Katkat, Bernie emotional in 'double shantay' lip sync smackdown

Captivating Katkat and Bernie raised the transgender flag high in the latest episode of "Drag Race Philippines."

In the Branding-ding-ding episode of the drag reality show, the six remaining queens were asked to make their own shampoo commercial to showcase their brand as drag artists.

ØV CÜNT emerged as the winner for this week's challenge, with Captivating Katkat and Bernie placing in the bottom ranks. The two performed "The Power" by Ann Raniel in a neck-to-neck lip sync smackdown.

During their performance, the pair expressed their emotions through the song very well, and had a "ruveal" at the end where Captivating Katkat flashed the word transwoman in her inner garment while Bernie showed off her body in a two-piece beaded ensemble.

“Ganun pala ‘yung feeling ‘pag nasa bottom,” Katkat said in the episode.

["So that's how it feels to be at the bottom."]

“Kung matalo man ako ni Bernie, okay lang. Basta nailabas ko ‘yung gusto kong sabihin,” she added.

["If Bernie beats me, it's okay because I sent the message I wanted."]

In a Wednesday's D'Intervention viewing party, the two queens were seen emotional while watching the episode, especially during the part where Paolo Ballesteros (Mamwa Pao) announced that the lip sync battle resulted in a "double shantay," which means both of them are still in the running to become the Philippines' 2nd drag race superstar.

Captivating Katkat and Bernie were former regular performers in O-Bar, a famous gay bar in Pasig where Season 1 queens Precious Paula Nicole, Brigiding, Turing, and more used to perform as well.

Season 2 of "Drag Race Philippines" is currently streaming on HBO Go and Wow Presents Plus. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
