'Terminator' gets 8-episode anime series on Netflix


The "Terminator" franchise is going to have an anime series on Netflix!

The streaming giant made the announcement on Geeked Week and posted a video sharing details on the upcoming project.

Skydance Media ("Top Gun: Maverick," "World War Z") and Production I.G ("Psycho-Pass," "Haikyu!") will work on the series, while Mattson Tomlin will be the showrunner.

According to a report on Deadline, "Terminator: The Anime Series" will have eight episodes set in the Terminator universe but it will follow new characters.

The series will be directed by Masahi Kudo, whose previous works include "Hayate the Combat Butler" and "Sanrio Boys."

The "Terminator" franchise is created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd. It began with "The Terminator" film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1984, which was followed by five more films, television and web series, comics, novels, and video games.

"Terminator" follows the conflict between the humans facing extinction and a synthetic intelligence called Skynet, which triggers a nuclear war and develops autonomous machines to hunt humans.
