'My Hero Academia' live action is 'absolutely' happening, producer says

A year after it was reported that a "My Hero Academia" live action adaptation is in development, producer Joby Harold reaffirmed that it is "absolutely" still happening.

In an interview with Collider, Harold, who was tapped to write the screenplay, said it is a project that he's "actively" working on for Netflix.

"It is something I'm working on and loving working on," he said. "I'm excited to do it and get it out there. It’s a big one."

Harold did not divulge further information about the project, but expressed excitement over it.

"I can speak to the fact that it is live-action and I think that's probably all I can speak to, but it's a big deal in my life. I'm really enjoying it... It's amazing. It's an amazing opportunity and I'm really excited about it."

It was previously reported that the project will be helmed by Japanese filmmaker Shinsuke Sato, who is popularly known for “Alice in Borderland.” Legendary Entertainment will produce.

Based on the manga by Kohei Horikoshi, “My Hero Academia” follows the story of Midoriya Izuku, who was born "quirkless" in a world of superpowered beings, as he journeys into becoming a hero.
