69-year-old woman among candidates vying for MUPH-Quezon City crown

The official candidates for the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines—Quezon City pageant have finally been unveiled!

15 queens from the city will compete in hopes of bringing home the crown and representing Quezon City at the next Miss Universe Philippines pageant.

Among the candidates named was 69-year-old Jocelyn Cubales, who has also represented South Asia in Mrs. Universe 2017.

In her official photo, MUPH-QC said that, at her age, Jocelyn believes that “the younger generation can learn a lot from her life experiences, most especially grit.”

MUPH-QC’s grand coronation night is set for February 5.

In September last year, the Miss Universe Organization removed the age limit for its candidates, allowing aspiring beauty queens over 28 years old to compete.

MUPH welcomed the move and said that it is a "move toward greater inclusivity and representation."

Meanwhile, Pampanga, Batangas, Naic, Cagayan De Oro, Bohol, Tacloban, Cebu, and Albay are also set to hold their local coronations soon.

Pampanga will hold its pageant on January 19, followed by Batangas and Naic on January 20 and January 21, respectively.
