These bikes and scooters are up for rent in Metro Manila

This 2024, you might want to be more active outdoors for a healthier lifestyle.

If you’ve been going to BGC or Makati often, you may have already seen the purple bikes and scooters roaming around. To those who didn’t know, these units are actually up for rent for those who want to use them, and it only takes an app.

Called Moovr, the app allows users to choose among three units: e-bikes, manual bikes, and e-scooters. For P30, you may use your selected unit — parked in key spots in BGC, Makati, and now also in Muntinlupa — for 30 minutes.

Just recently, Moovr launched its upgraded e-bikes and e-scooters. The e-bikes feature a sturdy basket for quick errands and are "specifically designed for Filipinos." Meanwhile, the upgraded e-scooters also feature a sturdier base and better suspension for bumpy roads and surfaces, perfect for longer commutes or simply riding around town for a breather.

The app was also upgraded this year, and it now features encrypted payments and an adaptive user interface that lets riders see parking areas and vehicle details such as their availability, battery levels, and ride rates.

You should keep in mind, though, that your safety should always come first. Since renting a Moovr is self-serviced, using the unit is entirely at your own risk. As of writing, wearing a helmet when renting a Moovr is not required, but it’s highly advisable to wear one for safety.
