Top Fur Activities this Summer

It’s that time of the year again! Summer beckons, and it’s a great opportunity to bond with your pet pals. Here are five furfect activities to enjoy the warmth of the season.

Make a splash

Beat the summer heat with a cold plunge! Whether it’s in a lake or river, or at the beach, soaking in the water is the perfect cooldown for pet parents and fur babies. Not all dogs instinctively do well in the water, so give them time to adjust. Be patient, too, as some may need a bit of encouragement before they settle. For safety, fit your dog with a lifejacket to keep them afloat and more visible while in the water.

Once your dog gets comfortable, try other activities like boating, or stand-up paddle boarding!

Explore new paths

Dogs are naturally inquisitive, so going on walks is crucial for their mental and physical health. And like for us, going out to enjoy nature is just as beneficial for dogs.

Spice things up by exploring new places! Feeling extra adventurous? Go on a hike in a nearby trail! Just be mindful when and where you set out. Avoid the warmest parts of the day. Choose paths with lots of shade. Don’t forget to bring water for you and your buddy to rehydrate! Not only do walks help maintain physical fitness for both pet parents and pets, but it also improves the bond between the two. (Besides, it’s a cheap way to stay fit!)

Get interactive

Dogs also reap the same benefits from exercise, like maintaining overall health.

If walking’s getting boring, try more interactive activities. Let your dog freely do the zoomies in the wide open! Do they like ball games? Try switching it up with a frisbee.
