Miss Universe PH exec assures that they are listening to criticism, suggestions

Ahead of this year’s preliminary competition and coronation night, Miss Universe Philippines Executive Vice President Voltaire Tayag has a quick assurance for pageant fans.

In an interview with GMA News Online, Voltaire said that this year's competition will be an "amazing production."

"We’ve listened to a lot of their criticism and also suggestions," he said.

"But at the same time, every year, we always push ourselves to be better, and I know for a fact that it’s gonna be so exciting, it’s gonna be epic. This year, it’s gonna be very hard to tell who’s gonna win, so that makes it very exciting," he added.

Voltaire said that the quality of the delegates is what sets this year apart from the previous ones.

“This year, it’s not just quantity, it’s quality. At the press presentation, we knew that we had a big number, but we didn’t really appreciate that until after spending a few months with them, we saw how amazing all of them are."

While acknowledging that fans will always have their favorites and bets, he reminded supporters to be mindful of their actions.

“I also want to tell pageant fans to hopefully be kind to all of the delegates. Cheer for your favorites as much as you can, but leave it at that,” he said.

“No bashing and you know, when there’s that one winner, let’s support that delegate. That’s the spirit of pageantry, it’s really uplifting women and if you don’t do that, then don’t be a fan,” he added.

The upcoming preliminary competition happening on Sunday will take place at the Fiesta Pavilion, The Manila Hotel.

On May 22, the organization will hold the grand coronation night.

Aside from the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 crown, four other national crowns will be given to four other candidates.

Confirmed performers at the coronation night are “RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. The World” top 4 queen Marina Summers, OPM band Lola Amour, and Thai actor Win Metawin.

Alden Richards, Gabbi Garcia, Tim Yap, Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel, and Jeannie Mai will serve as the hosts. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
