'Sense and Sensibility' movie starts filming, introduces cast

"Sense and Sensibility," the novel by Jane Austen, is getting a new big screen adaptation!

On its official X account on Tuesday, the film announced that it has officially begun filming.

It also unveiled its main cast, with Daisy Edgar-Jones starring as Elinor Dashwood, Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Margaret Dashwood.

Joining them are Caitríona Balfe as Mrs. Dashwood, Frank Dillane as John Willoughby, George MacKay as Edward Ferrars, Herbert Nordrum as Colonel Brandon, and Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Jennings.

The film is directed by Georgia Oakley.

"Sense and Sensibility," Austen's first novel, follows the story of Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret Dashwood and their widowed mother as they are forced to leave their family estate and move to the home of a distant relative in Devon.

It has been adapted to film and TV a handful of times throughout the years, the latest of which is the 2024 adaptation by Hallmark Channel in the US.
