'The Conjuring: Last Rites' sets PH record for all-time biggest opening day for horror movie

"The Conjuring: Last Rites" is an immediate hit in the Philippines!

According to a press release from Warner Bros. Pictures, the fourth and final installment in the popular horror franchise set a new record for the biggest opening day for a horror movie of all time.

Fans flocked to local cinemas for the midnight screening on September 3, also breaking the record for biggest opening for an R-16 movie, previously held by "Final Destination: Bloodlines."

It also currently has the second highest-grossing opening day for any movie in the Philippines this year.

"The Conjuring: Last Rites" is the final Conjuring film centered around the Warrens.

It brings Ed and Lorraine Warren back for one final case: the haunting of the Smurl Family in Pennsylvania in 1986.

The first "The Conjuring" movie was released in 2013. The third installment, "The Devil Made Me Do It," premiered in 2021. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
