Barangay in Sta. Mesa, Manila holds annual Halloween costume parade

Residents of Barangay 587-A, Zone 58, District 6 in Sta. Mesa, Manila marked Halloween with their annual costume party and parade, a tradition they’ve kept alive for eight years.

According to JP Soriano’s report on “24 Oras,” Thursday, the community gathers every October 31 to dress up and scare each other before heading to cemeteries for Undas.

The event also featured a costume contest organized by the barangay, with cash prizes ranging from P3,000 to P7,000 for the winners.

Among the participants was Christopher Marion Remalante, who chose to dress up as a zombie.

“Madali po kasi ‘yung acting,” he said, even demonstrating his slow crawl.

Others went for more creative portrayals, including heroes and villains from popular movies.

One participant, dressed as Mystique from “X-Men,” said her look carried a deeper meaning.

“Lahat po ng villain, tao pa rin po sila,” Euniqua Merilles said. “Katulad lang din po sa realidad, may mga masasama,” she shared.
