'Project Hail Mary' earns nearly P30M on first five days in PH
“Project Hail Mary” just had a massive opening weekend.
The epic space adventure opened to $80.5 million in North America, and $60.4 million internationally, making it a $140.9 million box office opening weekend, according to a press statement from Columbia Pictures.
In the Philippines, the space movie collected P29,258,184 on its first five days. According to Columbia Pictures said it is currently the top film in the country.
The film, by far, is the biggest Hollywood opening weekend of 2026. It is also the biggest Hollywood original non-franchise film opening since 2024's “Oppenheimer.”
An adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel of the same name, “Project Hail Mary” follows science teacher Ryland Grace, who wakes up in a spacecraft with no memory of who he is or why he’s in outer space. Ryland slowly recollects his memories and learns that his mission is to save a dimming sun and prevent the Earth from entering extinction
