'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' sets PH box office records on opening day
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" topped the Philippine box office as it swung its way to local cinemas this week!
According to a statement from Columbia Pictures, the latest installment in the popular Marvel franchise earned P95,930,965 million on its opening day, "making it both the biggest opening gross for Sony Pictures and the biggest post-pandemic opening day box office in the Philippines."
It has also become the 3rd biggest opening day of all time in the Philippines after "Avengers: Endgame" and "Avengers: Infinity War."
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day," the fourth Spider-Man movie by Marvel, arrived in Philippine cinemas on July 29.
The story is set four years after the memory-wipe in "Spider-Man: Far From Home." In earlier trailers, Peter Parker has been shown losing control of himself and his powers as he struggles with what Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) describes as mutating DNA.
It stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned. —JCB, GMA News
