Twins born in different years? It's possible!
If movies are to be believed—we've all seen Parent Trap, right?—the link between twins is a connection to be envied. You have an instant buddy growing up and you always have someone with whom you can celebrate your birthday. Curiously, that's not the case for fraternal twins Jaelyn and Luis Salgado.

Jaelyn was born just as the year 2015 was ending at Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center in San Diego, California, on December 31st at 11:59 p.m.
Luis was born three minutes later, on January 1st , 2016 at 12:02 a.m.
Twins born in different years!
Their father, also named Luis Salgado, immediately joked about the uncommon story of his children's birth.
"[My wife Maribel] really wanted to have the babies on the same birthday because you know later on in the years, they're going to have a little confrontation and be like, 'my birthday came first,' so it means two birthday parties, back to back," Salgado told NBC San Diego.
Of all the types, fraternal twins like Jaelyn and Luis are actually the most common—but the circumstances of their birth are not. Although they're only a couple of days old, the twins have already given their nurse Lynette Coetzee an interesting story to tell. "It's very unusual. It's very unusual and it's very special," she said about their birthdates in the NBC report. "And I haven't seen it in all my 34 years of nursing. So we are thrilled to have them here at Kaiser."
The Salgados are very happy with the additions to their family and glad that their newborns are healthy. — Aya Tantiangco/BM, GMA News
