10 outstanding teachers recognized by DepEd, Metrobank


 

 

Outstanding teachers from various cities and provinces across the Philippines were honored for their achievements and service on Thursday.

The ten winners of the 2016 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Teachers were presented to the officials of the contest's sponsors and partners, which included the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The winners were chosen among 534 nominees after a thorough evaluation.

The elementary teachers who made it to the list are Winona Diola from the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School, Rujealyn Cancino from the Lingayen Central School, Josephine Obseñares from the Butuan City SPED Center, and Arnol Rosales from the Francisco Melgar Memorial School.

The chosen teachers from the secondary level are Dr. Roy Basa from the Negros Occidental High School, Nelson Agoyaoy from the University of the East-Caloocan Elementary, Ma. Regaelle Olarte from the Muntinlupa National High School, and Dr. Katherine Bustos Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School.

Ernelea Cao, PhD from the University of the Philippines Diliman and Mark Anthony Torres, PhD from the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology were the winners of the higher education competition.

The outstanding teachers have been awarded P500,000 and have been honored by the Senate and Congress, and Vice President Leni Robredo.

On Monday, they will be honored by President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang. —JST, GMA News
