With Duterte's blessing, Filipiniana fashion returns to SONA
The modest glamour of butterfly sleeves will be making a return at Batasang Pambansa for President Rodrigo Duterte's second State of the Nation Address (SONA).
According to a report by Katrina Son for Balitanghali on Thursday, a new dress code for the SONA has been issued for female Representatives.
"All the lady legislators, we were asked to wear Mindanao-inspired outfits," Diwa partylist Representative Emmeline Aglipay-Villar shared.

Bayan Muna Representative Carlos Isagani Zarate, meanwhile, is opting to make a statement with his formal wear.
Zarate's Barong will feature a group of protestors carrying a sign that reads "No To All Out War" with a tank in the distance.
The president himself made a subtle fashion statement during his first SONA, opting to wear a piña jusi Barong made by Davao-based tailors.
Attendees of Duterte's first SONA were told to wear business attire, which Finance Assistant Secretary Paola Alvarez said was the new dress code for the event.
Alvarez discouraged female guests from "flaunting" dresses and gowns.
Malacañang late Thursday clarified that they are implementing the same dress code of "business attire or Barong for men, and business attire or Filipiniana dress at knee length for women." — AT/LA, GMA News
