5 pairs of shoes perfect for the rainy season

A change in season almost always calls for a change in wardrobe. In the Philippines, we’d wager buying new shoes is more important than buying a new jacket simply because jackets don’t wade through harrowing floods.

And so, we put together this list of shoes you may want to check out.

Aigle. Aigle is a French outdoor brand relatively new to the Philippines. It recently launched its Macademes boots with are actually rubber but looks as bad-ass as leather ones. If the knee-high original height is a little too much for us modest Noypis traversing the MRT stairs, there are also mid (P10,990) and low (P8,900) cuts.

Butterfly Twists. It’s foldable, it’s lightweight, it’s perfect as baon — in case you get caught up in the rain. That it’s ballerina flats make it easy to match with most everything.

Melissa. Brazil’s most beloved footwear brand recently launched is first-ever Philippine campaign to highlight its latest collection, Open Vibes. Five Filipinas including Shaira Luna, Rina Santos, and Thea de Rivera come together to promote the seven styles that are more laidback, carefree, and most importantly, waterproof. We’re digging the Pranas, by the way.

adidas ultraBOOST. No, it’s not waterproof but because it is made with plastic bottles — or its primeknit upper is made with about 11 plastic bottles, to be more accurate — we just had to include the new UltraBOOST Parley in the list. It is both proof and call to clean up.

Imagine: Had the plastic bottles been not intercepted, they would’ve washed into shore and added to the worsening plastic pollution problem, which adds to the flooding problem, you get the drift.

The new UltraBOOST will be available in in Metro Manila starting June 27. If you’re in Cebu, Davao, or La Union, the new pair of shoes will be available online. P9,300

Terra & Agua. Jelly shoes mean they’re waterproof. In this weather, that’s about the most important thing. In case you need another come-on? Terra & Agua is 100 percent vegan and it’s Kryz Uy-approved!
