First IKEA store in the Philippines to open in Pasay in 2021

IKEA will open its first store in the country in 2021, the Swedish-founded global furniture brand announced on its website.

"Come 2021, we will open an IKEA store in Pasay City to give millions of Filipinos easy access to a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low almost everyone will be able to afford them," the furnishing retailer said.

IKEA made noise in 2018 when it confirmed that yes, it would set up shop in the Philippines by 2020.

Back then, the furniture giant projected its Philippine store to open in 2020.

We're a bit late on the ETA but if it's going to be the largest IKEA store in the world at 65,000 square meters — almost equivalent to 150 basketball courts — then OK.

Right now, the global retailer said that they are "busy building up their business and learning about life at home in the Philippines."

IKEA promised more than 8,000 home products that would make life more comfortable for Pinoys.
