4 ways to style your jeans for every occasion, according to celebrity fashion stylists

Jeans are some of the most versatile fashion pieces there is, and these celebrity fashion stylists just taught us how to upgrade our styling game.

At the Style Talks on Thursday, Pam Quinones and Bea Constantino gave out expert tips on how men and women can style their jeans for every occasion.

They styled models featuring UNIQLO's EZY Ankle Pants 2Way Stretch and their 20SS jeans collection featuring Kaihara Denim, Japan's top denim manufacture.

1. Office to gimmick real quick

On days when you have to grind at the office in the morning and hit a party or dinner with friends in the evening, it's best to wear an outfit that looks somehow casual but also versatile and easy to tone down.

WOMEN:

Pam suggested that women try on "soothing colors" that are more on the sorbet shades.

She picked a rayon fabric long-sleeves shirt in a pale yellow and beige color paired with a muted mint EZY Ankle pants and a casual beige blazer.

"I want it to be different colors but somehow still. It's something that people say mabango sa mata," she said.

The blazer had no lining but it has a "structure that falls so well on the shoulders" that had a faint plaid pattern that subtly adds more character to the look.

Women can wear it with sneakers or chucks, depending on whether the work environment is laid back or strict.

For a more casual look in the evening, Pam said you can "shush up the sleeves" of the blazer to give your overall outfit a casual look.

Another way to tone it done for an after-work-hours look is to remove the blazer and and pair it with different accessories such as asymmetrical earrings, or chain necklaces or layered necklaces.

She said you can also change your lip color into a bright bold lip which instantly gives off a party vibe.

MEN:

For men, Bea said it's best to go with the daytime dapper look with a charcoal-colored EZY ankle pants, a blue Dry Ex polo shirt and an easy-looking blazer.

"Business meetings, adventures with your friends, you wanna be kind of on the streamline kind of dressing this is good for you," Bea said.

Pam and Bea said the center crease on the pants makes it business-like and at the same time you can easily tone it down into an evening look if you pair it with a crew neck shirt.

Pam said that since everyone's wearing different hats in their careers, it's nice to have a little casual and formal vibe blended in one look.

Something as simple as losing the blazer will automatically switch up the whole look from a formal work day look to for a casual night out look with friends.

2. For those on the go

If your job requires you to be on-the-go, moving from one place to another, talking to different people, it's important to wear something comfortable yet stylish.

"If you're doing all that, wearing many hats, it needs to be very comfortable, it has to have a very nice undertone of casual, it needs to feel casual so you can really move well in them," Bea said.

WOMEN:

The '90s grunge look is apparently having a massive comeback this year, and it's the perfect look for when you have an active day at work.

But the twist in this grunge look is instead of wearing the usual dark and punky vibe, Pam decided to have the same "feel" using neutral colors that are light and easy on the eyes.

"A long knit cardigan instantly gives out the grunge appeal, it's relaxing, cozy and lose," Pam said.

For the jeans, she chose the belted pleated soft denim jeans that can be worn high- or low-waisted.

Pam said aside from the fact that it’s comfortable, it’s “also the kind of jeans that will elevate you if you're wearing height or heels. You can strap the heel strap on the ankle or you can wear it as is, it will elevate your silhouette even more.”

If you wear it high-waisted, Pam said you can fasten the belt which “improves your form, that kind of focus on the tiniest part of the body which is the waist and then this frames that your eyes focus on the waist.”

Since you’re going to be moving around, you have to wear something breezy. Pam suggested a linen fabric shirt tucked in the pants.

She added that it’s best paired with Chucks to finish off your grunge look or black boots that are very chunky "that almost go into the punk side."

To make you look more stylish and comfortable, you can wear a bucket hat.

MEN:

Bea chose the Men’s Miracle Air 3D Jeans that look like a structured strict denim but actually has a soft and shape-hugging three-dimensional fit that is easy to move in — perfect for an active work day.

It’s the kind of jeans that will help you cope with commuting, and the humid summer season. She said that the fabric of the pants "holds the sweat and it's breathable so it releases it doesn't stick to your skin."

Bea decided to pair it with a powder blue crew neck shirt, a linen long-sleeved top and, to finish off the look, a dark parka blue jacket.

The overall look gives off a chill but fashionable vibe.

3. Running errands on a Saturday

WOMEN:

Just because you’re running errands doesn’t mean you have to be mindless about what you wear. Looking casual and comfortable yet stylish is totally doable.

Pam said a breton striped boat neck shirt would easily give you “a look like a casual preppy look” paired with a high-rise skinny flare distressed jeans giving off the casual vibe.

The pants have a “flare from the knee to the hem, it's not random, the way that they stitched it, it elongates their frame instantly it pulls up your silhouette.”

Pam said to elongate your silhouette you can pair with heels or boots.

To finish off your look you can wear an oversized parka which you can wear with shushed up sleeves or leave as it is. Choose a jacket that has inner pockets that will help you out on haggard errand days.

MEN:

For men, a bow-legged pair of jeans, worn with a simple gray shirt with stripes, is easy on the eyes and instantly makes you look casual.

Men can wear the whole look with a trendy olive green linen jacket that looks structured but is actually liningless. The jacket also has a drawstring inside which can give an illusion on the waist.

It looks casual and stylish but the fabric of all the ensembles is breezy and comfortable which suits any errand Saturday.

4. Church and family day

WOMEN:

For Sundays, you would want to wear something “mom-approved” and forgiving pieces that will let you breathe when you go to Church or spend time with your family.

Pam said women can go for a tonal look that seems “casual but you don't want to think about what you're wearing."

She decided to go with the EZY ankle pants in oatmeal paired with a light blush pleated blouse that looks very conservative.

“It feels very feminine, very pretty, you kind of want to balance it off with sneakers,” Pam said.

Pam said the top is flattering for all body types because of the pleats “whether you have a full chest or not so full chest it doesn't really emphasize so it's very forgiving.”

A light-colored bucket hat can upgrade your overall look into a more stylish one.

MEN:

For men, the stylists decided to go for a similar look wearing the EZY 2Way Stretch Ankle pants that has a center crease, which Bea said is appropriate “in  a more serious setting, church, prayer meeting.”

Bea paired it with a white Airism T-shirt and finished the whole look with a jacket tied around the neck that instantly give you the “good boy look.”

Men can choose pants and top that have a subtle windowpane plaid print. This will make it look more appealing and fashionable without being too much, which most men hate.

For men who have shorter frames, Bea said you can wear the pants folded or you can always have it altered.

Despite all the style tips they gave at the event, Pam reminded that this 2020, “rules sometimes apply but sometimes you make your own.”

“So it doesn't have to be a certain formal look for work or for the day it doesn't have to be a super glamorous party-clubbing look and it's still appropriate. You kind of make it your own," she added.

For instance, Pam said some people think they couldn’t wear something high-waisted because of their short torso.

“Some people think if you have a short torso you can't wear high-waisted jeans or trousers or skirt because that will make your torso even shorter but actually so what to begin with,” she said.

Pam said after 15 years of styling she realized people shouldn’t be “boxed in a certain idea on how to wear body types.”

“I realize that all these rules really are customized to yourself, because not everyone has the same size of short torso, there's a shorter torso, there's a shorter shorter. You just have to find the right silhouette for you,” she added.
