Pia Wurtzbach, all-Filipino creative team land on Vogue Italia fashion editorial
Pia Wurtzbach and several Filipino fashion creatives have made it to Vogue Italia!
Serving you “Indigenous Futurism," renowned fashion designer Victor Baguilat Jr. and acclaimed photographer MJ Suayan teamed up with 2015 Miss Universe and Philippine arts and culture ambassador Pia Wurtzbach as their muse.
The creative project reimagines what the use of indigenous fabrics would be like in the future, with Pia donning a series of modern, sleek and even avant-garde creations largely from Baguilat's sustainable fashion enterprise, Kandama Collective.
"The theme of our photoshoot this year is 'Indigenous Futurism,' an idea wherein indiigenous people are actually thriving in the future so the looks are very futuristic using indigenous weaves," Baguilat said in a behind-the-scenes video.
“Wearing Filipino works of art and learning more about the stories behind each piece is something I will always support," Pia added.
"There is so much to see and learn from our ever evolving culture and I want to invite everyone to learn with me."
Rounding up the team are makeup artist Mickey See, hair stylist Renz Pangilinan, and Okada Manila as co-producer. The editorial was done with the goal of raising awareness about indigenous fashion.
The editorial was selected by no less than Vogue Italy’s Deputy Editor, Sara Maino.
