Marian Rivera, Beatrice Gomez’s Miss Universe gowns: Here’s a sneak peek
Miss Universe judge Marian Rivera and Philippine candidate Beatrice Luigi Gomez are surely going to be stunners in their Francis Libiran gowns during the pageant’s coronation night.
On Nelson Canlas’ “24 Oras” report on Wednesday, the Filipino designer shared a sneak peek at some of Marian’s looks through his sketches.
As seen in the drawings, Marian is expected to show up as part of the selection committee clad in a pinkish-red off-shoulder gown with a slit.
Francis said the creation of Marian’s beaded gown was based on her personality that’s simple yet very elegant. He said the dress took four days to complete with the help of around six people.
“Tinanong ko si Marian kung ano mga gusto niya,” he said.
“She wants an off-shoulder. Sabi ko, ‘Marian, nakaupo ka most of the time so talagang ipakita natin [ang upper body] kasi ’yon ang asset mo,’” he added.
“Very simple lang requirement ni Marian. It’s always easy to work with her kasi alam niya talaga yung gusto niya.”
Apart from Marian’s much-awaited look, Francis is in charge of dressing Beatrice Luigi, who will vie for the country’s crown.
Although nervous, the renowned fashion designer said he also patterned the Cebuana’s look from her personality. This is his first time to create a gown for a Miss Universe candidate.
Prior to arriving in Israel, Marian stunned everyone as she modeled gowns made by several fashion designers, including Francis, Vera Wang, Andrea Tetangco, and Mak Tumang.
Beatrice, meanwhile, has been serving looks while touring the Middle East.
Beatrice made history in September after becoming the first openly gay candidate to win the Miss Universe Philippines crown.
