R'Bonney Gabriel joins 'Project Runway' Season 22 cast

R’Bonney Gabriel is set to compete in the upcoming 22nd season of “Project Runway.”

According to a report by People, the beauty queen and fashion designer will compete alongside 21 other creatives vying for a chance to elevate their fashion careers on the reality competition series.

Heidi Klum, Law Roach, and Nina Garcia will return as judges for the new season, while Season 4 winner Christian Siriano reprises his role as mentor.

R’Bonney is introduced as “a Filipina American sustainable fashion designer, model, host and Miss Universe 2022.”

The other designers in the edition are returning Season 21 designer Joseph McRae, Aaron Potts, Andrea Moore, Andriy Volkov, Anna Molinari, Bao Tranchi, Bi Pham, Bryan Barrientos, Chloe Magleby, Dani Bennett, Elizabeth Shevelev, Jeffrey Kelly Abess, Jennifer Daniels, Jude Mikulencak, Omolara “LRÉ the Artist” Odupita, Naheim Muhammad, Octavius Terry, Plane Jane, Robert Crone, Varvara “Bobby” Diakonenkova, and Yang Yang Xu.

“Project Runway Season 22” will premiere on July 9 on Freeform and stream shortly after on Hulu and Disney+.

R’Bonney made history in 2022 as the first Filipino-American to win Miss Universe. She has a Filipino father and American mother, and represented Texas in the Miss USA pageant.

She often makes fashion pieces from sustainable materials and traditional fabrics like the inaul from Sultan Kudarat.

In August 2024, she launched a collection at Bench Fashion Week.
