SONA 2026: Yassi Pressman, young designer give humble Terno a Filipiniana glow-up

Yassi Pressman graced the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in a reimagined Filipiniana.

On Instagram, the newly engaged actress shared a reel showcasing two terno tops she bought for P1,000 at the Iloilo City Market.

One is a crisp, semi-transparent beige terno adorned with colorful floral embroidery, while the other is a pink terno top, also embellished with floral embroidery.

In a separate collaborative post, young Filipino designer Emanuel Riñoza showed how she worked on the Terno with colorful floral embroideries and used it as an inspiration to create a fully reimagined Filipiniana for Yassi.

“The goal is to create a full look around the piece, not veer away from it but to enhance its beauty and make it SONA 2026 ready,” creative director Sef Loseo said.

The result is a two-piece figure-hugging cream Filipiniana with hand-sewn flower accents using excess fabrics and adorned with beads.

Earlier in July, Yassi got engaged to Luigi Villafuerte, a Camarines Sur’s 2nd district representative. They made their relationship public in February 2024.

Aside from Yassi, other celebrities and personalities graced SONA 2026 in Filipinana designed by fashion designers, including First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, Tootsy Angara, Audrey Zubiri, and Annette Gozon Valdes, to name a few.
