Tourists began arriving in Boracay as vacationers looked forward to spending the Undas long weekend on the island.

According to Kim Salinas’ report on “24 Oras,” Friday, some visitors were already excited to cross over from Caticlan Port and enjoy Boracay’s famous white-sand beaches.

“This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We want to try helmet diving,” tourist Mark Flores said.

“This place is unique, and many people visit this famous island,” tourist Sandra David added in Filipino.

With tourists flocking to the island, various activities are also keeping visitors entertained, including party boat rides, a sandcastle-making contest, and a paraw race.

Halloween-themed activities are also lined up, such as trick-or-treat events, beach parties, and costume parties.

According to the Malay Tourism Office, more than 148,000 tourist arrivals were recorded from October 1 to 29.

While tourists enjoy their vacation, some residents are busy cleaning graves at the Manoc-Manoc Public Cemetery.

“Tomorrow, we will just visit the cemetery, light candles, bring flowers, and things like that,” resident Lovelyn Salibio said in Filipino.

Meanwhile, authorities are on standby to ensure public safety throughout the Undas break.

Chief security officer of Caticlan and Cagban ports Richard Alair said emergency response stations have been set up and police personnel are deployed around the clock.

“We have set up tables for emergency situations. We also have police officers on duty 24/7,” he said.

More tourists are expected to arrive on the island in the coming days.
