(Updated 3:32 p.m.) Even Valentine's Day—which is less than a month away—can be more fun in the Philippines, as shown by a new TV ad produced by the Department of Tourism.
The video showed a couple in world-famous Boracay, with the man about to propose to his girlfriend.
While the ending could be described as predictable—the girl said "Yes"—viewers are invited to see how her boyfriend popped the question, with the help of some locals.
"Melt your heart out :) ... Spread the love! #itsmorefuninthephilippines" the DOT, which posted the 31-second ad on its YouTube channel on Thurday, said on its Twitter account.
A note on the YouTube video indicated the ad is for international release to show "the momentous activities one can have in any of (the Philippines') shores."
Many who watched the ad posted their approval, calling it "sweet."
As of early Friday afternoon, the commercial posted on YouTube got 9,842 views, 247 likes, and three dislikes. 'Professional talents'
In a text message to GMA News Online, Tourism Assistant Secretary Benito Bengzon Jr. said the woman and the man on the ad are “professional talents who are a real couple to ensure chemistry onscreen.”
He said the advertisement has been showing since last December in key markets abroad. He did not give a specific country.
“This is an international material and focus of placements are overseas,” said Bengzon, who is in charge of the department's international tourism promotions.
He said the advertisement was conceptualized by BBDO Guerrero, the same ad agency tapped by the DOT and came up with the campaign “It's more fun in the Philippines.”
Aside from DOT, BBDO is the ad agency of local and international companies and groups.
DOT Assistant Secretary for Tourism Planning and Promotions Domingo Enerio III told GMA News Online in an earlier report the public can look forward to new “more fun” TVCs, which they are gearing up to release on international channels “very soon.”
