For Independence Day in Bohol, skydiving and a 230-km prayer chain

If you're going to be in Bohol on Independence Day, June 12, you will have the chance to witness an attempt to form a 230-kilometer human prayer chain and a skydiving exhibition.

According to state-run Philippine Information Agency's Bohol office, the province will attempt the human prayer chain to culminate its "Bayani Challenge."

The Bayani Challenge, according to its website, is a project that aims to attract one million volunteers to help rebuild the Philippines after the disasters that hit the Philippines last year.

Its page for Bohol notes the magnitude-7.2 quake that hit the province last October, and lists the municipalities of Antequera, Loon and Maribojoc as Bayani Challenge sites.

"Bohol attempts putting up a 230-kilometer human prayer chain as Bayani Challenge culmination June 12," it said on its Twitter account Monday.

Last May, Governor Edgar Chatto sought local governments' commitment for the human prayer chain, according to a report on The Bohol Standard.

The report said the chain aims to cover the 262-km circumferential road in Bohol, to keep the spirit of bayanihan alive.

The skydiving event will also be part of the Bayani Challenge and will be held in the afternoon, it also said. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
