Bohol has some of the Philippines' most popular and internationally renowned attractions, from its white sand beaches to the Chocolate Hills to the province's most famous residents, the tarsiers. It is also still recovering from the magnitude-7.2 quake that heavily damaged or destroyed most of its colonial churches in late 2013.

From December 8 to 10, the province of Bohol will hold a fair at Glorietta Mall in Makati in which it will launch its new tourism campaign, “Behold...BOHOL.”

According to Bohol governor Edgar Chatto in a statement, the campaign aims to show that every town the province has a unique tourist attraction to offer. In particular, it will promote the town of Anda, which is becoming well-known for its powdery white sand beaches and for mangrove-rich Lamanok Island.

The statement adds that the Departments of Tourism and Public Works and Highways are working to improve road and infrastructure access to Anda through a program that seeks to connect airports to tourist destinations.

The travel fair is part of the Bohol Tourism Action Plan, developed by the province in collaboration with the DOT, the United States Agency for International Development through its Advancing Philippine Competitiveness Project (USAID-COMPETE), the United Nations-World Tourism Organization (UN-WTO), the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and local tourism stakeholders.

It will open with a grand program featuring the Loboc Children’s Choir, which will perform every night of the three-day event.

Air Asia deal and other discounts

As the campaign's exclusive airline partner, AirAsia is offering its lowest rates for tourists visiting Bohol at the fair. The low-cost carrier flies to the province three times a day.

Discounts of at least 50 percent for hotel and resort accommodations, tours and other travel products and services in Bohol will also be offered during the travel fair. — BM, GMA News
