South Cebu to feature 12 destinations with Suroy-Suroy from Jan. 21-23

After going through two cyclones, southern Cebu will finally have reason to celebrate with the Suroy-Suroy on Jan. 21 to 23.

Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, who chairs the provincial tourism board, said the Suroy-Suroy Cebu three-day tour will visit 12 destinations.

“Only Alcantara backed out because their boardwalk is totally damaged. The others are determined to push through with the event,” Magpale said in an article on the provincial government website.

Suroy-Suroy Sugbo’s Southern Trail destinations include:

  • Carcar City
  • Barili
  • Moalboal
  • Alegria
  • Malabuyoc
  • Samboan
  • Oslob
  • Santander
  • Boljoon
  • Dalaguete
  • Argao
  • Talisay City

Several parts of Cebu were damaged due to floods from Tropical Storm Seniang, which caused rivers to overflow.

But Magpale said the Department of Public Works and Highways will install a temporary two-way steel bridge to reconnect Sibonga and Argao.

The bridge can accommodate vehicles weighing up to 20 tons

Suroy-Suroy will only use buses that can pass through the steel bridge.

The Suroy-Suroy Cebu, an effort of the Suroy-Suroy sa Sugbo Foundation, aims to help and develop the different potential eco-tourism destinations in the south.

New destinations

Guests will be able to see two new destinations this year: Mainit Springs in Barangay Montaneza in Malabuyoc, and the five-tier Aguinid Falls in Barangay Tangbo in Samboan.

However, the tour will not include Kawasan Falls in Badian town this year as Kawasan’s crystal waters were damaged and its natural landscape deformed.

Cebu is accommodating a maximum of 200 guests for the southern trail in 2015.

Suggested tour package rates range from P7,000 to P14,000. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
