"Station 1 of Boracay Island 125 days after," the department said in the tweet, referring to the island's closure for rehabilitation in April.
Boracay's relaunch will have a dry run from October 15 to 25, during which Aklan residents and some tourists will be allowed back on the island.
It will then have a "soft" reopening on October 26, during which only 2,063 rooms so far have been cleared to be available to tourists.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat earlier emphasized that Boracay will no longer be advertised as a "party island." "We want it to be as it is, more peaceful, and we want to promote sustainable tourism," she said in an ANC interview.
Smoking and drinking will be banned in public areas, including White Beach, while a ban on sandcastles, fire dancers, and other festive activities is also being mulled. — BM, GMA News
