THE NEW NORMAL

Luxury hotel in Manila implements digital services, safety protocols in preparation for reopening

A luxury hotel in Manila has implemented digital services and safety measures as it prepares for reopening amid the “new normal.”

To safeguard itself from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Sheraton Manila Bay assured the public that it had “enhanced its sanitation and hygiene measures.”

“Consisting of in-house and outside experts in food and water safety, hygiene and infection prevention, and hotel operations, Sheraton Manila Bay has enforced social distancing measures, deeply sanitizing all guest rooms and high-touch areas, and efficiently utilized technology to provide touch-less and seamless services,” it said in a press release.

According to the luxury hotel, it launched the Marriot Bonvoy App to help members reduce unnecessary contact. The app can be used for mobile check in and out, dining, key, eFolio delivery, and guest requests.

It also said guests using its transportation service, which had protective barriers, could self-sanitize and navigate a digital service directory through QR code using the hotel’s internet while in transit.

Aside from undergoing temperature screening upon arrival, guests will also have to accomplish a health declaration form and meet the standard healthy requirement prior to entry.

Sheraton said foot disinfecting mats and hand sanitizing stations had been placed on public areas around the hotel, while high-traffic areas such as restrooms, elevators, and escalators would be disinfected.

Apart from placing social distancing markers within its premises, it also reduced allowable capacities in spaces to further increase distance between people. Every guest room, it said, would be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected as well.

The food and beverage station, meanwhile, has protective barriers and contactless food options, and menus are available digitally through QR codes.

The hotel also said its staff members went through trainings on health procedures and would be in proper protective gear at all times. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
