Although activities such as whale shark watching in Oslob, Cebu, were opened yesterday, operations still run under strict protocol and guidelines.

A maximum of 1,000 people per day are allowed to participate in the tourist activities, while only one family is allowed on each boat to avoid mixing individuals and raising the risk of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) exposure.

According to the report, diving will also be allowed starting today, Aug. 1, while ATV and trekking activities in the municipality of Barili will start tomorrow, Aug. 2.

On Cebu Provincial Government’s official Facebook page, Saturday, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia can be seen riding a boat to see whale sharks in Oslob to mark the official reopening of the province’s tourism industry.

An executive order was also passed to implement safety protocols and guidelines for the tourist activities. Included in the protocols was the strict implementation of online booking before tourists could go to the destination. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
