San Fernando, Pampanga welcomes holiday travellers with Christmas lantern display

Are you up for a scenic drive across a city of stars?

San Fernando, Pampanga, also known as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines, has officially welcomed the holiday season with a gorgeous lantern display along the entire stretch of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA).

As captured by Kapampangan photographer Gerald Gloton, nighttime travellers are greeted with a 52-piece sequence of star-shaped lanterns and sparkly lights.

Gloton said seeing lanterns illuminated last Friday brought tears to his eyes after battling COVID-19 this year.

"Been waiting for this night... After a life-changing experience this pandemic, I now have a deeper appreciation of the yuletide night lights here at the Christmas capital of the Philippines," he said.

"We all are still battling an invisible enemy and indeed these are real dark times, we literally just need these lights to brighten up our saddening situation. Maligayang pasko!"

JASA is located just off the San Fernando exit of the North Luzon Express Way, driving towards Zambales or Bataan. — LA, GMA News
