El Nido in Palawan among BBC's pick of world's best beach escapes
El Nido in Palawan has been named among the world’s best beach escapes by the BBC, further cementing its reputation as a top tropical destination.
In an article, BBC Features writer Francis Agustin highlighted El Nido’s stunning mix of beaches spread across its islands and limestone archipelagos.
Visitors can also explore secluded coves and lagoons through island-hopping tours via speedboats, catamarans, or traditional Filipino bangkas, enjoying activities like swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling, Agustin wrote.
“After a long day at sea, you can explore other white sand beaches on the mainland like Las Cabanas, Lio or Corong Corong. There's nothing like cracking open a cold bottle of San Miguel and watching the deep red and golden skies as the sun sets.”
Other beaches listed in the article are Bay of Fires, Tasmania; Brighton Beach, New York; Achmelvich Beach, Scotland; Grand Case Beach, St Maarten; La Baia di Ieranto, Sorrentine Peninsula, Italy; Icacos, Puerto Rico; The Andaman Islands, India.
The beach spots were selected by editors from BBC who traveled around the world to share memorable beach experiences.
Located at the northern tip of Palawan, El Nido is known for its limestone karst cliffs, turquoise lagoons, and white-sand beaches.
Previously, one of its beaches, Entalula Beach, ranked second on the World's 50 Best Beaches list for 2025, two notches higher from its fourth-place ranking in 2024. —Jade Veronique Yap/JCB, GMA Integrated News
