The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and Aboitiz Economic Estates are expanding an investor-support initiative aimed at helping businesses navigate registration and other requirements for setting up operations in economic zones.

Under a renewed memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed Wednesday, the two parties will advance the next phase of their EaseBiz initiative, including integrating its locator-support processes with the PEZA The One Portal System (PTOPS).

The initiative is intended to give prospective and existing industrial locators a single point of coordination for identifying registration steps, preparing documentary requirements, monitoring pending actions and coordinating with PEZA and Aboitiz Economic Estates.

PEZA Director General Tereso Panga and Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates President Rafael Fernandez de Mesa signed the MOU during a ceremony in Pasay City.

The expanded initiative will also focus on consolidating investor education and engagement and improving coordination throughout the registration process, according to PEZA.

Aboitiz Economic Estates will assess the possibility of extending registration support to requirements involving the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other government agencies.

The partnership comes as the government promotes the Luzon Economic Corridor as an industrial and supply-chain hub and seeks to attract more investments into the country.

“PEZA remains committed to enhancing ease of doing business in our ecozones so that investor confidence translates into concrete projects, quality jobs, and increased exports,” Panga said.

He said the collaboration with Aboitiz Economic Estates, together with opportunities arising from the Luzon Economic Corridor, would help PEZA improve regulatory services and investment facilitation.

Fernandez de Mesa said the support system is intended to bring together services that investors need when establishing operations, including industrial land, infrastructure, utilities, talent and regulatory guidance.

“EaseBiz strengthens this platform by helping locators navigate registration and set-up requirements, giving them clearer guidance and closer coordination as they move from investment decision to operation,” he said.

The renewed agreement builds on the existing EaseBiz partnership between PEZA and Aboitiz Economic Estates.— MCG, GMA News
