Marcos further expands land area of West Cebu Industrial Park ecozone
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has designated two parcels of land in Balamban, Cebu, for inclusion in the existing West Cebu Industrial Park Special Economic Zone.
Under Proclamation No. 1288, Marcos designating the lands located at Barangay Buanoy, Balamban, Cebu, as part of the Cebu Special Economic Zone.
This was subject to the provisions of Republic Act No. 7916, its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and upon the recommendation of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
These two parcels of land, SK-07-000197 and SK-07-000198, with an aggregate area of approximately 647,229 square meters are located at Barangay Buanoy in Balamban.
Acting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed the proclamation, by the authority of Marcos in Manila on June 3, 2026.
Last year, Marcos also included seven parcels of land with an area of 69,490 square meters in Barangays Arpili and Buanoy in Balamban, Cebu into the West Cebu Industrial Park Special Economic Zone.
West Cebu Estate is found on Cebu’s western coast and is known as the Philippines’ shipbuilding capital. — BM, GMA News
