More than 52,700 registration seal badges secured by online sellers, others —BIR
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said more than 52,700 certificates of registration (COR) with registration seal badges have been secured by online sellers, service providers, and content creators as of October 14.
The BIR earlier issued Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 038-2026, requiring taxpayers engaged in online business activities to post the BIR-issued seal on their websites, e-commerce pages, or social media business accounts as proof of registration.
This covers a wide range of digital economic participants, including online sellers, freelancers, professionals, vloggers, influencers, and others earning income through digital platforms.
The BIR said the registration seal badge was designed to protect the privacy and personal information of online sellers, service providers, and content creators. Clients and customers may scan the badge to verify the BIR registration of digital economic participants.
Previously, the BIR required that the full COR or electronic COR (eCOR) be displayed on websites, social media business pages, and other digital platforms.
“The Registration Seal Badge is meant to make online transactions safer and more convenient. A taxpayer should not have to expose an entire registration document just to prove that a business is registered. We want to make compliance easier while protecting the personal information of online sellers, professionals, and content creators,” BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza said.
The BIR extended until October 31 the deadline for online sellers, service providers, content creators, and other covered taxpayers to display the registration seal badge.
The registration seal badge is issued free of charge and may be secured electronically through the BIR’s Online Registration and Update System (ORUS) or manually through the taxpayer’s Revenue District Office.
Meanwhile, actress and vlogger Rica Peralejo expressed frustration over the BIR's requirement for content creators and other digital earners to display a registration seal on their online platforms.
In a post on Threads, the actress said she has been paying taxes since she was 13 years old, questioning why she still needs to prove her tax compliance by displaying the BIR registration seal badge.
She added the requirement would have been acceptable if Filipinos were not being robbed by corrupt individuals. —KG, GMA News
