Telco warns of poor connectivity in Fort Bonifacio
MANILA, Philippines - Innove Communications, Inc., the landline unit of Globe Telecom, Inc., warned of poor connectivity at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) without enough facilities working in the system. Innove is currently fighting for its right to operate within the commercial hub, which is currently exclusively served by Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. based on an agreement it signed with Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. (FBDC) and Bonifacio Communications Corp. Locators like the Deutsche Bank group, G&W Architects, Memphis Holdings, Inc., and Lawson Philippine Solution & Service Center (PSSC) have earlier asked FBDC to let another service provider, particularly Globe Telecom, operate within at the commercial center for a wider network system. Even the embassy of Singapore have asked the local government of Taguig for assistance in seeking access to Globe landlines. Globe Telecom is a partnership between the Ayala Group and Singapore Telecom. âIf there will be no redundant facilities, service within the BGC will deteriorate and thus affect adversely business and industries therein," said Innove officials, namely its chief executive officer Gil Genio; legal head Caridad Gonzales; and head for new projects development Josefina Alano. Software development firm PSSC, in particular, has requested a redundant fiber optic systems within the Net Square building at the BGC as it cannot afford any downtime while dealing with US- and Europe-based clients. âCurrently, our primary link is with Globe, who is providing us with several high bandwidth data circuits. As such, we required them to provide us the same service as their competitor. However, it was brought to our attention that we can only be served fiber optic facilities by one telecommunication provider," PSSC Director Sof Go said in a letter to FBDC. Deutsche Knowledge Services, likewise requested support facilities from Innove. âIt is critical to our operations to have 24/7 telecommunications facilities since a short period of downtime in telecommunication operations will cause us huge losses in revenue," said Marthyn Cuan of the Deutsche Bank group in a separate letter to FBDC. Over ten additional buildings, including a Globe Telecom headquarters, are being constructed at the BGC. Innove said all the buildings would require redundant communication systems. âPublic service will definitely be gravely affected if Innove is prevented from providing the diversity required to provide universal access, and all forms of telecommunications, and healthy competition in the BGC," Innove officials said. - GMANews.TV
