Oakwood set to return to Manila this year


MANILA, Philippines - Oakwood, one of the better known brands of serviced apartments worldwide, is set to return to Manila in the third quarter this year. The company is set to open Premier Joy-Nostalg Center Manila located in Ortigas Center. It will offer 233 luxury residences, ranging from fully-furnished studios to three-bedroom units, and the Chairman Suite, which has exclusive features and amenities. Oakwood Premier in Makati City was rebranded as Ascott in 2006 after the Ayala Group's exit from the property. “Oakwood is excited to be back in Manila to serve the needs of international business executives and discerning local clients. Ortigas, as a prime business district, is the perfect address for an Oakwood Premier which is found in strategic locations across Asia," said General Manager Brian Connelly in a statement. Oakwood Premier Joy~Nostalg Center Manila features fully-equipped kitchen, home entertainment system, bath and shower, laundry facilities, maid’s quarters in three-bedroom units, and Internet connectivity. Other amenities include the Residents’ Lounge with a restaurant and a bar, room service, swimming pool, jacuzzi, fitness center, and helipad. Oakwood Premier also offers facilities for banquets and conferences in either of two ballrooms with a capacity of up to 200 persons each. The facilities may be divided into smaller meeting venues. The facility will also have two boardrooms. Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Center Manila was designed by the architectural firm C.Y. Lee and Partners. They are responsible for the concept behind Asia’s tallest structure, the Taipei 101. For the group's first project in the Philippines, the group designed a building that boasts of environment-friendly provisions. The group is the first in the country to use high-grade and energy-efficient glass curtain walls that keep out a high percentage of heat, thus reducing the amount of electricity consumed and maximizing the effects of its in-house air-conditioning system. Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Center Manila is owned by Quantuvis Resources Corp., a company engaged in real-estate and property development. Worldwide, Oakwood has 3,500 associates and nearly 23,000 apartments and more than 300 network partners. A division of Oakwood Worldwide, Oakwood Asia Pacific manages Asia's serviced apartments for business and leisure travelers in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, and Thailand. An additional 26 properties are scheduled to open by 2012 in various locations across Asia Pacific.
