P&G Philippines to operate new factory for diapers

Procter & Gamble Philippines on Wednesday said its newly completed facility in Cabuyao, Laguna, will start operating on Thursday.

The baby-care production facility was envisioned to increase the company’s diapers output, the Pampers brand, said P&G Philippines president and general manager Sumeet Vohra.

The Cabuyao factory was supposed to start operations next month but was finished ahead of schedule.

"The Philippines remains a key market for P&G globally,” P&G global group president for baby care Martin Riant said in a statement. “Throughout the company’s 75-year history in the country, P&G has continually invested in innovations to improve and upgrade its plant technology and facilities and provide Filipinos products with superior quality and value."

P&G invested P500 million to expand its Cabuyao facility, a part of the P2.5-billion investment global chief executive Robert Macdonald announced during the company’s 75th anniversary celebration in October 2011.

The Pampers production line is the first phase in P&G’s  P3-billion additional investment in the country to grow its business by optimizing its supply chain. —VS, GMA News
