IBM solution lowers business cost of Cebu's ThreeSixty Pharmacy

IBM and Cebu-based ThreeSixty Pharmacy announced on Tuesday that a recent strategic agreement has seen the retail and wholesale pharmaceutical company reduce its administrative and support costs thus proving the axiom that one of the ways small and medium enterprises can make themselves profitable is by making use of effective data management tools, especially if the business’ data requirements are on the upswing.

“Smart use of technology will enable the successful execution of our aggressive expansion plans.  We were looking for market proven solutions and selected IBM based on their global expertise in providing intuitive technology solutions,” said ThreeSixty Pharmacy president Antonio Yap.

Prior to implementing the IBM solution, ThreeSixty Pharmacy lacked the ability to store the increasing amount of database information it was collecting.

ThreeSixty addressed the situation by acquiring the IBM Storwize V7000 Unified Disk System storage controller disk system for its hardware and the IBM Tivoli Storage Flash Copy Manager software to streamline its operations and to support its expansion plan.

“This solution enables us to address our operating and IT challenges and allowed us to respond rapidly to business and market changes,” added Yap.

IBM Philippines’ Country Manager for General Business Chestnut Andaya explained that the old ways of buying and managing storage have also become less effective.

Furthermore, IBM is already working with the Department of Science and Technology to establish the first Philippine Systems & Technology R&D Laboratory to help spur economic growth in the country.
