Globe: Q1 postpaid mobile phone sales show market share at 57%

Globe Telecom dominated sales in postpaid mobile phone plans, with its first quarter reports showing a 57 percent revenue share of  the local postpaid market.    Its service revenues in that premium category in the first quarter is at P5.3 billion—higher than the combined revenues of its two main competitors—Globe said, citing reports submitted by mobile phone providers to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).    “Clearly, Globe Postpaid bests competition in both customer base and revenues. Not only this, we also have a core of loyal subscribers who are happy with our first to market, best-in-class product offers that competition tries to copy yet fails to do so, putting Globe as the true and only leading brand in postpaid,” said Martha Sazon, Head of Globe Postpaid.   Sazon said that aside from personalized plans, Globe has the widest range of handsets to choose from, such as the iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S III, Globe-exclusive BlackBerry Curve 9220, BlackBerry Curve 9320, and Nokia Lumia 800.    Globe added that it is working on having a stronger and more reliable network nationwide. It plans to roll out 10,000 kilometers of additional fiber optic lines to bring high-speed data to mobile phones and other data terminals.     The company is also working on creating the “best-of-breed responsive IT systems.” — AE/ELR, GMA News
