Republic Cement Corp. changes name to Lafarge Republic Inc.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Tuesday, Republic Cement Corporation changed its corporate name to Lafarge Republic Incorporated. Also, as part of their by-law’s amendments, their corporate seal shall bear the amended name of the corporation.
The Securities and Exchange Commission had earlier approved the change in corporate name.
"Please be advised, however, that the change in corporate name and stock symbol of the corporation will not yet be reflected on the exchange’s trading system pending submission by the corporation of the detailed procedures on updating its stock certificates, in accordance with the exchange’s policy on updating of stock certificates," said SEC Disclosure Department head Janet Encarnacion in a statement. The exchange said it will inform the trading participants and the investing public of further developments on the matter.
Republic Cement is a publicly-listed company incorporated to engage in the manufacturing, development, exploitation and sale of cement, marble and all other kinds of and classes of building materials, and the processing or manufacture of materials for any industrial or commercial purposes.
Its subsidiaries are Iligan Cement Corporation and Mindanao Portland Cement Corporation. Its major shareholders are Southeast Asian Cement and Lafarge Holdings (Philippines) Incorporated.
Currently, Republic Cement Corp./Lafarge Republic Inc. has a total market capitalization of P47.75 billion. Its 2011 sales, ending January 2012, hit P17.278 billion. — DVM, GMA News
