GMA Network's Marissa Flores among this year's CEO Excel awardees

A top executive of GMA Network was among those given the Communication Excellence and Organization or the CEO EXCEL Award for 2012 by the International Association of Business Communicators.

Senior Vice President for News and Public Affairs Marissa Flores and 10 others received the distinction for being "models to their employees and other stakeholders in harnessing communication skills in their work and relationships.” The awarding ceremony was held Thursday night at the InterContinental Manila hotel in Makati City.

In her speech, Flores shared the honor with the people she works with. "Whether in the '80s or today, something remains the same–we have the most creative, dynamic and passionate people in the industry. And fairness and balanced reporting which I saw early on have been ingrained in our culture,” she said. “That I lead this formidable team is a great blessing and an immense responsibility. And I always continue to pray for wisdom to continue to lead this team to do what's right," Flores added.

Flores said she did not reach her position without help. "Gusto kong pasalamatan 'yung lahat ng nag-mentor sa akin all through the years. Lahat ng mga kasamahan ko sa trabaho, mapa boss, mapa tauhan.”

Aside from workmates, she also offered the award to her family, whose members were present during the awarding. “Ang biggest motivation ko is really to be able to give my family comfort and everything they need, and for them to be happy. 'Yun ang biggest motivation ko that's why I work hard,” she said.
