Holcim Philippines appoints new CEO
A cement maker on Monday said it appointed a new chief executive officer, whose appointment will start on Jan. 1, 2013. The new CEO of Holcim Philippines Inc., whose shares are traded on the Philippine Stock Exchange, is Eduardo Sahagun, who has served as senior vice president of the commercial department since 2007. Sahagun has a bachelor of arts degree in commerce and a Master’s in business administration from the Ateneo Graduate School. He is also a consistent Dean’s lister with his Master’s degree in Management Science from the Arthur D. Little School of Management in Boston – now the Hult International Business School. Incumbent CEO Magdaleno Albarracin Jr. and chief operating officer Roland van Wijnen will be resigning from their posts on December 31, 2012 and January 31, 2013, respectively. Both will serve as directors of Holcim, the company said in a statement. “There is no doubt that Ed is the right man to lead Holcim Philippines at this time… Ed has certainly contributed much towards helping shape Holcim Philippines to become the strong company it is today,” former COO Van Wijnen said, referring to Sahagun. “We will continue to focus on our roadmap and hopefully bring Holcim Philippines to take its place among the leading and most respected companies in the Holcim Group,” Sahagun said. — MJC/VS, GMA News
