SPi Global wins 2nd European award in 2012 for social responsibility program
The largest Filipino-owned business process outsourcing company, SPi Global, has again received an award from a leading European outsourcing organization for its corporate social responsibility progam. The UK-based National Outsourcing Association (NOA) gave SPi Global the Award for Corporate Social Responsibility for its “Power to Inspire” program, which was launched in March 2012 and focused on youth welfare and education. It generated 20,230 volunteer hours in just one day in 16 global sites across the United States, India, the Philippines, and Vietnam. In July, the program was given the Award of Corporate Social Responsibility from the European Outsourcing Association, an umbrella organization for propagating pan-European outsourcing best practices. “This second win for our company exemplifies the importance we give to our communities,” noted SPi Global President and CEO Maulik Parekh. “We believe that the outstanding success we achieve as a BPO company should be shared with the youth in the communities where we are located.” More than 8,100 children benefited from 23 outreach projects which included school rehabilitation, literacy classes, computer training, leadership training, arts and sports activities, and the setting up of computer laboratories, mini-libraries and feeding programs. SPi Global, a wholly owned subsidiary of PLDT, is a leading, full-service BPO provider with 30 offices and facilities around the world with over 18,000 employees. — BM, GMA News
